The Red Arrows fly again!

Where did they go? I hear you cry!!! “Where did who go!”

Its ok we are all still here, and haven’t floated away with the showers over the “Summer”….. My apologies for not keeping you updated as regularly as before however I plan to be a lot more organised over the Autumn and Winter months, watch this space!

So! What has happened at Fowey since my last entry? Well where do I begin. Regatta week proved to be yet another successful few days, the sun came out exactly when it was needed the most. This being the Thursday evening for the Red Arrows display. I hasten to add that this display was even more fantastic than before due to the many new features to their routine. A lot more heart stopping moments and Ohhs and Ahhhs were heard around the grounds of the hotel throughout the action packed 20 minutes and I must say it was THE best performance I have ever seen anywhere – Truly amazing!!

It was also important that the other dry evening of Regatta week was the Saturday night, and it was!! This then meant that the closing ceremony – Fireworks display was quite incredible, some people even mentioning that it was by far the best display that they had ever seen! Keep it up Fowey Regatta committee; you are doing a sterling job according to our guests.

The Fowey Christmas Market is building momentum for the 6th and 7th of December with already over 60 stalls being booked for the two days. Father Christmas will be coming over on the ferry from Polruan as before, and many stalls will be selling their wares, from locally produced chocolates to individually designed jewellery. It is definitely an opportunity to pick up a lot of novel and exciting presents for family and friends for Christmas. If you are interested in coming to stay over the Christmas Market weekend we have some great offers soon to be available on the hotels web site, alternatively drop us a line and we will be more than happy to help.

Now that the evenings are drawing in it has started us all thinking about Christmas and the general festivities leading up to the party season. As in previous years The Falmouth Hotel will kindly be hosting The Idle Rock, Metropole and Fowey Hotels staff Christmas party. Much debate has already begun over what dresses to where (or buy in a lot of cases), how to have our hair etc etc. Of course, the men don’t really seem to bother about these things so much, but it is important for us girls! I am sure there will be lots of party photos on the internal intranet here and it has been known for a few to make it onto Face Book and My Space – so watch this space!

Staying on the festive theme, we are promoting Christmas lunches/dinners throughout the month of December. Any local visitors (and I am aware a number of you read this blog) who are yet to decide where to go for either a work “get together” or simply to catch up with friends and family, there are some new and exciting menus that have been written by our Award winning Master Chef - Mark Griffiths. If you call the hotel we will be more than happy to discuss any requirements you may have.
