Its just water in one form or another!!
Good Morning from sunny Cornwall!!
As I write it is drizzling and has been since yesterday, if it carries on at this rate I will be doing my swimming training (for the Padstow to Rock swim) in the hotel’s car park! I have been assured this morning by Andrea on GMTV that it will be clearing this afternoon and tomorrow will be a brighter day – hope so as its my day off and my birthday tomorrow! I’m 35 years young tomorrow, after all it is just another number. I wonder if I will feel the same in twenty years time?
I stayed over at the hotel last night and had a phone call in the middle of the night from a young family whose tent had blown away whilst staying at a local camping site! Thank fully we had one room left and I hurriedly managed to put another camp style bed on to the floor so that the two children could sleep, I’ve seen them this morning and thank fully they slept well. They have just left to go and see if they are able to salvage any of their tent, here’s hoping!
Going back to the swim, I am joining up with Andrew and a few of the team from The Metropole Hotel again this year to do the mile long swim across the camel estuary to Rock. So far I have collected only £50 in sponsor ship money (Mac Millan nurses is the charity) and I have just over a week before I swim so I had better get a wriggle on. I am training this afternoon and need to start getting up to 60 lengths in order to get my fitness levels up – it was a real toughie last year!!! The pasty and the can of pop at the other end made it all worthwhile though.
This year after the swim Andrew and myself will be hosting the closing ceremony fireworks night on board the Grand Lady here in Fowey, so its going to be an action packed day, but hey no more than usual I suppose.
Regatta week promises to be another crazy 7 days this year and Mr Richardson will be bringing in his 90 foot motor yacht in order for hotel guests and the local residents to enjoy a trip out. This year there are four days booked and each day is already full to capacity. It’s usually an amazing day out with a jaunt around the bay, playing with the toys (water ski’s, wake board, jet ski etc) coffee and pastries on arrival, a light lunch, afternoon cream tea and a tour around the boat. It’s a chance to live the high life – if only for the afternoon!
Will up date you on the Regatta week events I am sure, after all whenever Mr Richardson is around there is always a story…..
